Sound familiar?
You labelled them. You swore you'd remember. But three months later, you're standing in a dim hallway opening box after box looking for the camping gear. BoxVault fixes that — log what's in each box once, search it from anywhere, forever.
How it works
Give it a name — "Winter Clothes", "Kitchen Stuff", whatever's written on the side. Pick a location and you're halfway done.
Snap a photo of the contents, type a quick description, or just talk — voice input does the typing for you.
Search "christmas lights" from your couch. BoxVault tells you: Box 7, Storage Unit A, Shelf 3. Drive straight to it.
What you get
Type any word — item name, box label, location — and see matching boxes in real time. No folders, no scrolling, no guessing.
Storage unit, garage, attic, parents' basement — track boxes across all your locations and filter by each one. Never confuse which unit holds what again.
Browser-based — phone, tablet, desktop. No app store, no download. Designed for the "standing in the storage unit with your phone" moment.
Snap the contents before you close the box. See thumbnails at a glance, tap to view full-size — encrypted before upload.
Privacy by design
Your labels, descriptions, and photos are encrypted in your browser before they ever reach our servers. We store ciphertext — not your stuff. Even if our servers were breached, your data would be unreadable noise to anyone without your password.
"We know you have 12 boxes. We have no idea what's in them, what they're called, or where they are."

Early users say
"I used to play a very expensive game of 'open every box until you cry.' Last week I typed 'winter coat', grabbed Box 3, and was home before the kettle boiled."
"'Where are the camping chairs?' my wife texted. I sent her a screenshot in 10 seconds. She thinks I'm organised now. I'm not. BoxVault is."
"Drove 40 minutes to my unit. Opened 11 boxes. Didn't find the drill. Drove home. Bought another one. Found the original the next day. Then I found BoxVault."

Questions answered
Your password is used to derive an encryption key in your browser. All your data — labels, descriptions, photos — is encrypted before leaving your device. Our servers only ever see encrypted blobs. We literally cannot read your data, even if we wanted to.
When you create your account, you'll receive a recovery key — a 24-word phrase. Store it somewhere safe. If you forget your password, this key lets you regain access. Without either your password or recovery key, your data is unrecoverable. That's the trade-off of true zero-knowledge encryption.
No. BoxVault is a web app that works in any modern browser — phone or desktop. You can add it to your home screen for an app-like experience, but there's nothing to download from an app store.
You can export all your data (boxes, contents, photos) at any time as a ZIP file. We'll always give at least 90 days notice before any service changes. Your data belongs to you.
Yes — workspaces can be shared with other BoxVault users. They get their own encrypted copy of the workspace key, so sharing doesn't compromise the zero-knowledge model. Sharing is available on both free and paid tiers.
